God does not violate our prejudices...

Like the Pharisees who went to their deaths absolutely convinced in their traditions and prejudices. Their pride shut them off from the correction that God would give.

What a sad case if we stubbornly continue to stick to our own ways and mindsets and allow no correction.

Praise God that the Cambodian team has come back...it was like an eye opener to the nation.

It is very much like Vietnam, only with a lesser population and also lesser vehicles.

The streets are much cleaner except that there are no street lights after sunset. That makes security an issue.

Overall, the trip has been successful and fruitful if we evaluate it against the information found.

Visited the S21 (not S11)...it is not a food court...but was a secondary school turned torture camp during the time of Pol Pot. Some of the ways he used to interogate and torture his own people... (more)

Prayer

This is the start of the Prayer and Fast.

I am also pressing in to the Lord for breakthroughs in certain areas of my life.

Incidentally...this week, there were a few occurences of incidents about the area of prayer.

Prayer, as we all intellectually recognized, is talking to God. But not sure whether we do experience it daily in our lives. One of the reasons why I pray is to develop a stronger relationship with God. How can we understand the mind and inner thoughts of the person without allowing communication to take place.

But the sad fact is that humans are need-driven and... (more)

Updating of system

Spent a couple of hours updating the system of the laptop and it is definitely not interesting..."To complete the updating, please restart computer"

There were so many essentials to be updated in the laptop that this process was repeated again and again after each essential was installed.

But thank God that it was done over the cable instead of the 56 k dial up.

And the final product is a more powerful and efficient system to work with. More complex files of other formats can be played over the laptop...

And this task illustrated the lesson of being constantly upgraded in our walk... (more)

Happy Mothers' Day

Wishing all mothers a happy mothers' day!!!

Yesterday in the church family, we were honoring these heroes of faith, the mothers. I am so encouraged by their sacrificial love for their children. I saluate them!!!

But when the children of the mothers asked by Pastor to present the flowers and move to pray with the mothers...they seemed struck to their comfortable seats, movement was slow, shy, sluggish and whatever...maybe because of the common excuse "We are Asian lah - pai seh"

How Mich and I wished that our mums were in church with us, something that people tend to take for... (more)

Young Adults

There is going to be a launching of the Young Adults' Zone soon: 14 May 2005.

And there is a mixture of feelings that entangle in this new ministry, both of faith and fear.

Of faith because God is interested in the Young Adults and there is enormous potential for growth and expansion for this phase of life. Yet what I fear is that we often become excited and passionate in a new ministry but as the road get harder to proceed on, we lose that passion and excitement, even when God is in the midst. Somehow we, human beings, often mistaken spiritual things with unspiritual things,... (more)

Finally manage to find some time to blog after a packed week of preparing the message, the ministry fair and many other sudden things that cropped up...thank God for His grace and mercy and strength...

I am real encouraged when reading this chapter 29 (late one day) and felt that there is so much potential in our local church for growth, both as individuals and corporately. The key is really to practice what we have learnt. If not nothing is going to change because impression without expression becomes depression. Knowing without action causes you to stagnant.

Everyone of us can... (more)

Knowing our purposes help us live better

Reading day 3 of Purpose Driven Life yesterday and the material highlighted the problems and struggles we are wrestling with: busy-ness, tiredness, not enough time, drained out, burnt out, unfulfilling, unsatisifying living...

All these issues are results of our purposeless living. We do not know why we are existing for therefore we are wandering round and round, and every round that we make drains the energy off us, every attempt causes us to wonder whether we are doing the right thing....

I do agree with Rick Warren in saying that when we know our purposes, the purposes focus... (more)

Meetingmenon precedes Phenomenon

'Meetingmenon' - an observable fact or event (meetings) that happened in my life

These days, esp in the 40 days campaign...meetings have been a phenomena...that when someone asked me whether I am available to discuss something on certain time, I will turn to my wife and ask absorbly "Do I have something on that day?"

Too many meetings...maybe the Lord is stretching me. Well whatever it is, let me continue to be faithful in the things of God. Moreover, meetings that are coordinated properly, make contributions to those who will later partake in the decisions and results. And... (more)
